Pip = pep-in-pocket
(PEP = post-exposure prophylaxis)

Another Option for HIV Prevention

PIP is a proactive approach to HIV prevention for people who have infrequent exposures to HIV, for example 0-4 exposures per year.

PIP involves filling a
prescription for HIV prevention medications so that if someone has an HIV exposure, they can start taking medication right away. It means no more waiting in emergency departments or urgent care clinics for HIV prevention care.

PIP can be given to people of all genders and is an excellent HIV prevention tool for individuals who have infrequent exposures to HIV or those who may have difficulty accessing HIV prevention medication in an emergency situation.
